Clive Barker is the foremost British Pop Art sculptor, having made an important art historical contribution to the movement on both sides of the Atlantic. Known for his witty chrome and bronze renditions of household objects and pop-culture icons, Barker was the direct heir to the legacy of Marcel Duchamp. Barker has continually payed homage to both fictional characters and historic figures, all of whom inspired an array of ideas in his artistic imaginary. Napoleon's Hat is the most recent example of this tradition, using another device typical of Barker's work: a single object cleverly transformed into a persona-reflecting icon.
