Helicopter paints the area south of Balgo, in the Great Sandy Desert, where he was born. Waterholes, or tjurrnu are the focal point of his painting, highlighting the importance of this geographical feature on which the lives of Aboriginal peoples depend on. Helicopter produced his first solo canvas in 1994 immediately forging his own style. His canvasses are like macroscopic tapestry of his country, in which watering holes and desert dunes have been made the very grammar of his art . An example of similar style is in the Musée du quai Branly in Paris.
