Lilly depicts stories from the Haasts Bluff and Kunajarrayi region, her traditional country, for the Watyawanu Art Centre. Her paintings hypnotise the viewer whilst immersing them in the beauty and subtle intricacies of her hand. Her most recent works are skilful representations of sand hills in their various forms.
In Tali Dreaming - Sanhills , the artist depicts a shifting landscape created by wind and rain. Across the field of the canvas, hills and ranges give way to rock outcrops and waterholes - the passing years and changing seasons leaving their patterns and striations on the land. Lines and dots on the painted surface draw the viewer into deciphering this grandest of landscapes through the most subtle gestural shifts.
Awarded the Northern Territory Art Award in 1986 and in 2003, the General Painting Category at the 20th NATSIAA Telstra Awards, Lilly' works are represented in major private and public collections.
