50 Years: WHITFORD 50 YEARS ANNIVERSARY

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Adrian Mibus, the gallery's founding director will be sharing his encyclopedic knowledge in a series of newsletters reflecting on the chronological evolution of his business from Orientalism and Symbolism, to Belgian Impressionism and Expressionism, passing via Modernism and École de Paris, towards Pop Art and Post War Abstraction.
This evolution reflects Adrian's ongoing commitment to adapting to the modern art market whilst maintaining its deep-rooted heritage.

Adrian's visionary leadership style and drive to represent the best each epoch had to offer, made for an inspirational parcours of discovery that was played out on the international stages of London, Paris, New York, Palm Beach and Brussels. In addition, Adrian was at the forefront of promoting women artists such as Mildred Bendall (1891-1977), Cissie Kean (1871-1961) and Pauline Boty (1938-1966), decades ahead of the current celebration of female artists. He also became an untiring advocate for artists who had fallen off the art-historical register due to personal circumstances.
